STRUCK BY: Working Through It


Sitting down to write this week, I tried to imagine what folks might want to read. And I came up fairly empty. What could anyone want to read about the modern workplace when it feels like the world is on fire?

But we have to work to live. And yet many of us no longer live to work.

And so now, when work might feel incidental at best, or a distraction at worst - the answer lies in remembering that distinction. Remembering to invest in and focus on our lives when we’re in them, and to do our job when it’s time. I’d say that’s the real meaning of work / life balance; truly being at work when we’re there, and truly living our lives when we aren’t working.
