STRUCK BY: The Great Stay


Does 2025 feel like the FUTURE to you? It does to me. Can’t wait to see what it brings for us all.

One thing it’s less likely than 2024 to bring - a new job. People are changing jobs at the slowest pace since pre-pandemic times. One simple explanation could be that those who left the workforce entirely during the Great Resignation are back in the labor market.

Or it could be that new hire pay growth has shrunk dramatically. Rather than the long-held benchmark of 10%, pay increases for new hires hovered around 3% in Q4 2024. And with the remote work tide turning to in-office, it’s harder and harder to find jobs that offer hybrid flexibility for those that want it. Only the desperately unhappy are looking to leave jobs for minimally more money and not change their ability to work from home.

A word of caution: it’s the Great “Stay” not the Great “Surge in Employee Retention”. People might be staying, but they aren’t necessarily thrilled to be doing so.
